miepython.core.normalization_factor(m, x, norm_str, efficiency_source=<function _mie_efficiencies>)[source]

Figure out scattering function normalization.

Parameters:
  • m – complex index of refraction of sphere

  • x – dimensionless sphere size

  • norm_str – string describing type of normalization

  • efficiency_source – callable returning (qext, qsca, qback, g) for m and x. Defaults to the full Mie solution; miepython.rayleigh passes its own so that the two share these rules rather than keeping a second copy of them.

Returns:

scaling factor needed for scattering function
